Fees and timeframes (clear summary)
Our ADHD assessments are completed in stages. This helps keep the process clear and allows you to decide whether to proceed after the first step (where required).
Adults (18+)
Step 1 — Screening (required first step): $268
This includes questionnaires, clinician review/scoring, and a brief discussion of results and next steps.
Step 2 — Full diagnostic assessment + report (total guide): $1,402.30–$1,652.30
This covers the main diagnostic assessment and the written report. The range depends on whether additional interviewing is recommended to clarify other possible conditions that may also be affecting attention, mood, anxiety, sleep, learning, or day-to-day functioning.
Adult total guide (Step 1 + Step 2): $1,670.30–$1,920.30
Children & adolescents (5–17)
Step 1 — Screening (only if required): $271–$292
This step is not always required, because many young people are referred by a paediatrician or child psychiatrist who may have already completed screening. If screening is required, the fee depends on age:
- $271 (under 8): parent questionnaires only
- $292 (8+): parent + young person questionnaires
Step 2 — In-person observation + diagnostic assessment + report (total guide): $1,589.60–$1,839.60
For all 5–17 assessments, we include an in-person observation session with the young person. The range depends on whether additional interviewing is recommended to clarify other possible conditions and support accurate recommendations.
Child/adolescent total guide:
- If screening is required: $1,860.60–$2,131.60
- If screening is not required: $1,589.60–$1,839.60
Report timeframe: reports are typically provided within 2–6 weeks after the final assessment appointment (depending on information gathering and complexity).

Combined Autism + ADHD assessment (add-on option)
If you’re exploring both autism and ADHD questions, we can discuss whether a combined approach is appropriate and what the fee structure looks like. Should you be already completing an autism assessment with us, an ADHD component may be added:
Standard ADHD add-on: +$1,060 (combined total $3,060)
If a differential diagnostic interview is required: +$1,310 (combined total $3,310)

Who this assessment is for
People enquire about ADHD assessment when they (or their child) experience patterns such as:
- ongoing difficulties with attention, focus, organisation, or procrastination
- restlessness, impulsivity, or finding it hard to “switch off”
- challenges with study, work performance, time management, or deadlines
- emotional regulation difficulties (e.g., becoming overwhelmed, frustrated, or reactive)
- longstanding patterns that may point to ADHD rather than (or alongside) anxiety, stress, trauma, sleep problems, learning difficulties, or autism traits
- questions about whether ADHD may explain lifelong difficulties across settings (home, school, work and relationships)
Assessments aim to clarify whether ADHD is present and to provide practical recommendations and next steps.
Important note about medication, referrals and pathways
If your primary goal is medication initiation, the most direct pathway is usually via a GP referral to a psychiatrist (and for children, often a paediatrician). Psychologists do not prescribe medication. If medication treatment is being considered, this is managed by a medical doctor (typically a psychiatrist, and for children often a paediatrician).
- Adults: Many adults seek ADHD assessment for clarity, documentation, and practical recommendations (with or without plans for medication).
- Children and adolescents: Families are usually best starting with a GP referral to a paediatrician or child psychiatrist, who can assess and manage medical treatment. In some cases, a paediatrician/psychiatrist may request a psychologist’s diagnostic opinion and supporting assessment information.
If you contact reception, we can help you work out which pathway best fits your situation.
In-person vs telehealth (what’s typically possible)
The exact structure depends on age, clinical needs, and what collateral information can be obtained.
Children (primary school age)
For children, assessment usually includes at least one in-person observation session (approximately one hour). Parent interviews and questionnaires can often be completed via telehealth/at home.
Adolescents
For adolescents, assessment components may be completed in-person or via telehealth depending on what is clinically appropriate. Parent input and questionnaires are usually included.
Adults
Adult ADHD assessments can often be completed fully via telehealth or fully in-person, depending on preference and clinical needs.
What the ADHD assessment may involve (overview)
Assessments are tailored to the referral question, but may include a combination of:
- a clinical interview (developmental and current symptoms; functioning across settings)
- a structured ADHD interview (e.g., DIVA-5 style interview, where clinically appropriate)
- questionnaires / rating scales completed by the person being assessed, and where relevant a parent/partner and/or teachers (with consent)
- collateral review where available (e.g., school reports, prior reports, relevant history)
- differential diagnosis follow-up (in some cases, an additional interview may be recommended to clarify other conditions flagged by screening results or clinical history)
- report writing (GST applies to the report component) and a feedback appointment to discuss findings and recommendations
Not every assessment requires every component. Julian will recommend a plan based on the person’s age, circumstances, and the diagnostic questions being asked.
ADHD assessment across Wyndham (suburb information)
We’re based in Werribee (Wyndham) and regularly see clients from across Wyndham and Melbourne’s west. If you’re unsure what needs to be in-person vs what can be done via telehealth, contact reception and we can talk it through.
ADHD assessment for Point Cook
We often see clients travelling from Point Cook for ADHD assessment in Werribee. People commonly choose a Werribee-based assessment when they want a clear staged process (screening → diagnostic interview → report) and practical recommendations following the assessment.
For adults, telehealth may make the process easier to fit around work and family commitments. For young people, we’ll advise what needs to be completed in person.
ADHD assessment for Tarneit and Truganina
Clients from Tarneit and Truganina often prefer an assessment process that is structured and clear about next steps, particularly when there are overlapping questions (for example, attention concerns alongside anxiety, sleep, learning issues, or autism traits).
If you’re booking around school and work schedules, we recommend allowing extra time for in-person components (where required), and using telehealth where clinically appropriate.
ADHD assessment for Hoppers Crossing
We also see many clients from Hoppers Crossing. If you’re seeking assessment for a child or adolescent, teacher/school input can sometimes be helpful (with consent), and we can discuss what information is realistically available and most relevant for the referral question.
ADHD assessment for Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes
People from Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes often contact us wanting clarity about whether ADHD is present and what supports may be helpful at home, school, university or work. Where possible, we aim to keep the process staged and transparent so you understand what each step involves and what fees apply.
ADHD assessment for Williams Landing and nearby suburbs
We also see clients from Williams Landing and surrounding Wyndham suburbs. If travel is a barrier, we can discuss which components may be suitable for telehealth (particularly for adults), and what is recommended in person for younger clients.
Suburbs we commonly see clients from (Wyndham and Melbourne’s west)
We regularly see clients from Wyndham, including:
- Werribee (including Werribee South)
- Hoppers Crossing

Do you offer Medicare rebates for ADHD assessment?
No. ADHD assessments are not eligible for Medicare rebates at this clinic.
Can you prescribe medication for ADHD?
No. Psychologists do not prescribe medication. If medication is being considered, this is managed by a medical doctor (psychiatrist; and for children often a paediatrician).
